Building the spiritual successor to Splice Studio
When Splice shut down Studio in 2023, they left a gap in the music production world. We're not claiming to fill it completely, not yet. But we're building something for the people who miss it, and we want you to help shape what comes next.

What was Splice Studio?
Splice Studio was the closest thing musicians ever had to "GitHub for music." It automatically backed up your DAW projects to the cloud every time you hit save, keeping a complete version history. Collaborators could sync projects instantly. No more zipping folders and emailing files.
It was genuinely loved. The DNA Player let you see inside a project without opening your DAW. Desktop sync meant zero friction. For the DAWs it supported, it was magic.
But Splice never monetized Studio. It was free, and that meant it was a cost center while their sample marketplace printed money. Development stopped around 2017, bugs piled up, and in May 2023, they pulled the plug entirely.
"We trusted them with our art... just to abandon it for a sample service."

What producers miss most
Splice Studio set the bar. These are the features people talk about when they say nothing has replaced it.
Automatic version history
Every save was a snapshot. You could scroll back through weeks of changes and restore any previous version with one click. The "time machine" for your projects.
Seamless collaboration
Invite a collaborator, and they instantly had access to all project files. No more zipping folders, uploading to Dropbox, or hunting through email threads.
The DNA Player
See the structure of a track without opening it in your DAW. Waveforms, track lists, automation curves, and the ability to leave comments tied to specific moments.
Desktop sync on save
The Splice app watched your project folder. Every time you hit save in your DAW, your project was backed up to the cloud automatically. Zero friction.
What SyncMuse offers today
We're not Splice Studio. We're building something new, starting with the foundations that matter most.
Version history
Every upload creates a new version in your timeline. Compare mixes, roll back to previous ideas, and never lose a take. Your history is preserved.
Timestamped waveform feedback
Leave comments pinned to exact moments in the audio. "Fix the snare at 1:42" appears right there on the waveform. Context that sticks.
DAW-agnostic
We work with audio files and stems, not proprietary DAW project files. This means you can use any DAW and collaborate with anyone, regardless of their setup.
Secure, private sharing
Control who sees your music with expiring share links and granular permissions. Your unreleased tracks stay private until you decide otherwise.
What we don't have yet
We want to be honest. Splice Studio had features we haven't built yet. Some we're planning, some we need your input on.
Desktop app with auto-sync
Splice watched your project folder and synced on every save. We don't have this yet, but it's something we're considering. Would this be valuable to you?
DAW file parsing
Splice could read your Ableton, Logic, or FL Studio files and show track names, automation, and structure. We work with stems instead, which means we're DAW-agnostic but can't show that deep metadata.
Plugin detection
Splice could tell you which plugins a project used before you downloaded it. Since we work with rendered audio, we don't have visibility into plugins.
Tell us what you need
If there's something from Splice Studio you can't live without, we want to know. Your input shapes our roadmap.

What happened to Splice Studio?
Splice Studio shut down in May 2023. The company pivoted to focus on their sample marketplace (Splice Sounds) and plugin rent-to-own business. The collaboration feature was free and never monetized, which made it unsustainable. Users had about 2 months to download their projects before the service went dark.
Is SyncMuse the same as Splice Studio?
No, and we want to be upfront about that. Splice Studio was a mature product with deep DAW integrations, desktop sync, and the DNA Player. We're earlier in our journey. We offer version history, timestamped feedback, and secure sharing today. We're building the rest based on what our users need.
Why should I try SyncMuse if it has fewer features?
Because we're building this for people like you, and we want your input. If you loved Splice Studio and miss specific features, tell us. We're actively developing SyncMuse based on real feedback from musicians. Early users help shape what we build next.
Will SyncMuse shut down like Splice Studio did?
We built SyncMuse with sustainability in mind. We have a paid Pro tier from day one, not a "free forever" model that can't sustain itself. Our founder is a working musician who built this because he needed it. We're in this for the long haul.
Does SyncMuse support my DAW?
Yes, any DAW. We're DAW-agnostic because we work with audio files and stems rather than proprietary project files. Export your stems from Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, or any other DAW, upload them, and collaborate.
