Cookie Policy

The Short Version
We use cookies to make SyncMuse work and to understand how people use it. We're not doing anything creepy. Here's exactly what's running:
What We Actually Use
Essential (Required)
Session and authentication cookies – Keep you logged in, remember your preferences, make the app function. We use Clerk for authentication, which handles the "are you actually you?" part. Without these, you'd have to log in every time you clicked something. You can't opt out because, well, math.
Analytics
- PostHog – Our main analytics tool. Helps us understand what's working, what's broken, and where people get stuck. When something feels clunky, this is how we find out. Cookies stick around for up to a year.
- Google Analytics (minimal) – Just enough to track whether our marketing is reaching the right people. We turned off all the creepy stuff—no demographics, no interest profiles, no "audiences." We're not building a surveillance dossier on you.
How Long This Stuff Sticks Around
Session cookies vanish when you close your browser. Login cookies last up to 30 days so you don't have to re-authenticate constantly. Analytics cookies hang around for up to a year. You can nuke all of them whenever you want through your browser settings.
What We Don't Use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies
- No third-party trackers selling your data
- No social media pixels watching you
- No fingerprinting or cross-site stalking
- No "partners" with vague purposes
This may change in the future. If it does, we'll update this policy and be equally direct about it.
Your Control
Your browser lets you block or delete cookies. Every browser does this differently—check your settings or help docs. Block the analytics ones if you want; SyncMuse will still work fine. Block the essential ones and you'll be stuck on the login page forever. That's just how web apps work.
